The first SciencesPo Alumni UK Charity Gala will take place on the 25th of September 2008 and will officially launch the Sciences Po Alumni UK Charity Trust.
The aim of this first Charity Gala is to to fund and set up scholarships for outstanding SciencesPo students who want to study in the UK and UK-based students who wish to study at SciencesPo Paris but would not be able to afford it without a scholarship, while reinforcing Sciences Po’s longstanding cosmopolitan tradition and its commitment to promote social mobility.
All the proceeds from the gala participation will go directly to the Sciences Po UK Charity Trust.
The Charity Gala will be co-chaired by Sciences Po Director Richard Descoings and the Director of the LSE, Sir Howard Davies, under the sought patronage of Ambassador of France His Excellency Maurice Gourdault-Montagne.
This first Charity Gala aims to bring together a variety of leaders and opinion makers, which will include French and British representatives of business and academia, Sciences Po alumni, and various influential members of the 300,000-strong French community in London.
